British Red Cross Invests In Voltec Solar Technology

The British Red Cross is a charity that's over 140 years old and helps vulnerable people in crisis at home and abroad.

It's little surprise that the charity takes climate change and its effects seriously particularly as it responds to humanitarian needs as a result of weather related disasters.  It is of crucial importance to the charity that it monitors and controls its own carbon emissions and to that end has introduced an in depth carbon reduction programme for all its UK operations in particular emissions from buildings and travel.  A key part of this programme is the use and expansion of electricity generated by solar power, so reducing emissions and generating a long term income for the charity, money re-invested in caring for vulnerable people.

Having installed panels on three properties, the charity decided to extend their use to two larger properties in Enfield and Mitcham in the London area.  A total of 315 Voltec Solar 250Wp photovoltaic panels provided through UK distribution company, Wagner Renewables,  were installed by the experts of SquareDeal Limited and are generating an expected 63,279 kWh of electricity every year, enough to totally wipe out all electricity costs for both buildings and save just over 28 tons of carbon each year.

Richard Dickens, the British Red Cross Environmental and Carbon Reduction Officer said "it was very important to us that we selected the best panels in terms of performance, warranty and ease of installation while still being highly competitively priced and Voltec Solar fitted the bill.  We were impressed by their 20 year product warranty, various accreditations including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and Occupational Health and Safety Management 18001 and the fact that their company clearly takes quality assurance very seriously.  This is a long term investment for the charity and as such long term satisfactory performance from the panels is essential".

"We are thrilled and proud about the fact that a UK leading charity, the British Red Cross, chose Voltec Solar PV panels for their renewable energy projects in the London area.  For Voltec Solar this is another great step forward in our presence in Great Britain and we look forward to working with the British Red Cross on further projects" said Markus Schaefer, Co-founder of French-German PV panel manufacturing company Voltec Solar.
