Good Energy Appeals Against Lanyon Solar Farm Decision
Good Energy has appealed a decision by Cornwall Council to refuse permission for the development of a 12.8MW solar farm at Lanyon Farm, near Hayle, in Cornwall.
An informal hearing run by the Planning Inspectorate to consider the appeal is scheduled for Wednesday July 9th, in Camborne.
A decision on whether to grant permission for the proposal is likely to be announced in mid-September.
A Good Energy spokesman said: "Good Energy selected the Lanyon Farm location and designed the scheme to maximise its potential for renewable energy generation while minimising impacts on the landscape, and enhancing biodiversity.
"We believe this is a great site for a solar farm and we hope that the inspector will consider the scheme on its merits."
If approved, Lanyon Solar Farm would generate enough renewable electricity to power around 3,290 homes.
Good Energy's proposals also include:
An "˜eco' car park for Gwinear Community Primary School
An outdoor learning resource for the primary school
A community fund to support local projects
A wetlands area especially designed by the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust
