MCS Certification Encourages TSMC's UK Efforts

News

TSMC Solar has announced that its high-efficiency CIGS modules have received official certification under the MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme), issued by TUV SUD BABT. Both the C1 and C2 modules of the TS CIGS series were awarded the certification, which is an internationally recognized quality assurance scheme, and a requirement for eligibility for the UK government's financial incentives. As one of the few companies in the world that are able to produce high-efficiency CIGS modules, TSMC Solar is supplying customers in more than 20 countries worldwide with modules to serve residential, commercial, and utility-scale markets.

The company additionally announced receiving a positive bankability report from DNV GL (Det Norske Veritas / Germanischer Lloyd), a recognized leader in independent solar engineering services. DNV GL conducted a detailed, in-depth evaluation of products, practices, and processes. The report states, "The TSMC Solar factory has the capability to produce modules of first rate quality, with a quality system in line with best industry practices and a commitment to continuous improvement of the product and quality levels."

"We are pleased to now be able to offer customers in all segments of the UK market our quality, high efficiency modules, which combine an attractive all-black appearance with energy yield exceeding that of polycrystalline silicon competitors," said Stephen McKenery, TSMC Solar Worldwide Sales Head.
