Hanwha Q Cells Expands UK Presence
Hanwha Q CELLS continues to expand its footprint in the United Kingdom. The PV specialist supplies more than 40,000 of its Q CELLS Q.Pro-G3 modules for a 10 MW solar power plant in Somerset, UK. The purpose of the plant is to export solar electricity into the grid. The plant will produce enough clean energy to power around 3,000 households. The installation of the 10 MW plant has been completed by the end of February 2014. Solarcentury is responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC). The EPC selected the EU-made Q CELLS modules due to their high performance and excellent quality. The solar power plant is already the second project implemented by Hanwha Q CELLS and Solarcentury after the 15MW solar park in Hardingham.
"After successfully completing our previous project in Hardingham together with Hanwha Q CELLS, we decided to use the high-quality Q.PRO-G3 modules again for another solar park in the UK," said Frans van den Heuvel, CEO of Solarcentury. "Hanwha Q CELLS has impressive production facilities and excellent service. We appreciate the flexibility provided by working with a European manufacturing partner."
Solarcentury chose the Q.PRO-G3 modules for the project in Somerset as they met the criteria for selection. Hanwha Q CELLS' bankability and expertise were additional decision-making criteria. The new solar power plant demonstrates Hanwha Q CELLS' continued commitment to the European market, including the UK.
