Styles&Wood Completes Booths Store Project

News

Property project specialists Styles&Wood has completed the installation of a solar power system for supermarket chain Booths at its cold store distribution centre near Preston.

The project, which saw photovoltaic (PV) panels fitted to the roof of the building, is expected to save the food retailer up to £24,500 in its first year and cut CO2 emissions by 114 tonnes. The project will generate around 223,000kWh of electricity per year.

The six-week project was delivered by the group's specialist renewable energy division Styles&Wood Energy. The team provided a full end-to-end service, including the design and installation of the system as well as registering the scheme with Ofgem, in order for the business to be eligible to receive payments under the Feed-in-Tariff (FiT).

Adrian Sutton, energy director at Styles&Wood Energy, said: "Microgeneration installations like this are becoming increasingly popular as energy prices continue to apply significant pressure on UK businesses, particularly those with large property footprints.

"This was a challenging project which was delivered successfully without causing disruption to a live distribution centre which is in active use 24/7. Working with a prestigious name like Booths is another great win for the Energy division which continues to go from strength to strength."

Styles&Wood Energy provides energy management, efficiency and microgeneration services for clients nationwide. In September the business was appointed by Freetricity, the leading UK solar energy supplier, as installer for the largest roll-out of free domestic solar power in the country, in a scheme funded by Australian Investment Bank Macquarie.
