UK Solar Rating System Launched

News

A new rating programme has been  launched for the UK solar PV industry. The online platform, called RatedSolarInstaller.com, enables domestic and commercial customers to find quality products and installers qualified by Rated Solar Installer. The platform is based on proven and popular sites similar to TripAdvisor, Checkatrade or ratedPeople.com which the public are familiar with.

Rated Solar Installer is designed to give customers confidence in their selection and provides them with the opportunity to rate their installer. All installations under this programme receive 12 months free insurance and monitoring. Customers can also apply for finance, buy extended insurance or maintenance services online.

In a few simple steps, both domestic and commercial customers can register, post a job and choose their installers. Rated Solar Installer is a perfect customer acquisition engine for the industry and offers a lot of benefits to the installers and manufacturers as well as the customers.

Reza Shaybani, Founder of Rated Solar Installer, and Chairman at the BPVA commented,  "We are proud to be a part of this solution for the solar industry. The industry is growing fast and we must make sure the public stay in love with solar. It's our duty to ensure the quality remains high and the customers are protected. With this programme we also aim to reduce the cost of installation and this can be achieved partly by reducing installers sales and marketing fixed overheads. Installers pay a small fixed fee after the completion of installation and being paid. We want to drive out sub-standard products and installers from the market. Our platform will ensure only high quality products are installed by approved installers. I want to make buying solar as easy as booking an airline ticket!"

Energy and Climate Change Minister Greg Barker said, "I would like to see energy customers increasingly producing as well as consuming electricity.  I want to unleash a new army of domestic energy producers.  Rated Solar Installer is a superb initiative which will drive that ambition, by ensuring that consumers get access to the best local installers, products and financing, all done at the click of a mouse".

Ray Noble,  Co - Chair of the DECC Solar Strategy Task Force Group and NSC Associate said, "Rated Solar Installer is an excellent initiative and takes the Solar Industry on another step forward to becoming a sustainable industry and making the customers journey safe and secure in the knowledge that they will have guaranteed quality products fitted by fully trained and audited installers."
