PV Accounts For 87% Of UK Renewables In November
The UK renewable energy markets added almost 2.2 GW last November according to the latest figures from DECC. At the end of November 2013, just under 2.2 GW of installed capacity was confirmed on the Feed in Tariff scheme, covering 441,972 installations. This was an increase of 2 per cent in total installed capacity and 2 per cent in total installation numbers.
Solar Photovoltaics represented 87 per cent (1.9GW) of the total installed capacity, and 99 per cent (435,912) of all installations. Wind was the second largest technology representing 9 per cent of total installed capacity (0.2 GW) and 1 per cent of installations (5,102).
1.2GW of capacity (407,549 installations) were sub-4 kW retrofitted solar photovoltaics..
Domestic schemes represented 66 per cent (1.4 GW) of total installed capacity and 96 per cent (426,256) of installations.
During November 2013, 51.5 MW total capacity was installed across 7,957 installations.
In terms of technology, the largest increase in capacity during November was in Photovoltaics , with 41.6 MW of installed capacity (7,879 installations) added to the FiT scheme, with the second largest capacity growth in Wind installations where installed capacity increased by 8.7 MW to 188.4 MW for November 2013, growing by 5 per cent, the largest percentage growth by technology on figures at the end of October 2013. The largest contributor in terms of tariff codes was sub- 4 kW retrofitted Solar Photovoltaics, with 23.3 MW of installed capacity (7,212 installations) confirmed on the FiT scheme in November 2013. The 10-50kW Solar Photovoltaics band was the second largest contributor in terms of tariff codes during November, with 6.8 MW of installed capacity (246 installations).
