Lark Energy Begin On Hidden Solar Farm
Lark Energy has recently started construction of a 9MWp solar farm at Hanson Cement's Ketton Works in Rutland, following the granting of planning consent by Rutland County Council.
Lark Energy developed the site in conjunction with Armstrong Energy who are also providing the finance.
Hanson Cement will use much of the energy generated on site.
Hanson Cement Communications Manager David Weeks said: "The beauty of the site is that, unlike where other renewables have been proposed around the area, it is well hidden. The panels will be invisible to people but will be generating a vast amount of electricity."
Jonathan Selwyn, Managing Director of Lark Energy stated: "We are delighted to be working on this innovative project with Hanson Cement and Armstrong Energy. It is exactly the type of project that the government wants to see: a well designed, well screened scheme on brownfield land, strongly supported by the local community with much of the energy used on site."
