Trina Solar To Supply Up To 55MW Of PV Modules To Anesco
Trina Solar Limited has announced that in the course of the next four months the company will supply up to 55MW of solar PV modules to Anesco. The selected PC14 module is specifically designed for large-scale ground mounted arrays, and will be installed on eight solar farm projects across the South of England.
The agreement will see a minimum of 30MW of Trina Solar modules supplied by April 2013, with that figure potentially rising to a total of 55MW. A number of the projects are being supported by SSE, the UK's largest generator of renewable energy.
Anesco CEO Adrian Pike said: "Trina Solar is one of the best manufacturers of solar panels in the world. Their panel performance is excellent and they are visionary when it comes to their growing array of products and services. Trina Solar is also committed to our delivery programme, and has good UK coverage and a strong balance sheet. We look forward to successfully working with them on our substantial solar pipeline."
The partnership follows the successful initial collaboration between the two companies to deliver a 5MW array for a solar farm on the Cadland Estate in Fawley, Hampshire. The groundbreaking project "“ the largest solar PV installation in the county "“ saw almost 18,000 Trina Solar panels installed at the estate, a major supplier to leading food manufacturers, as part of a drive towards establishing more sustainable farming models.
The panels concerned will, as on the Cadland Estate project, be Trina Solar's PC14 280 watt modules, which are specifically designed to optimize the balance of system costs for ground-mounted arrays. The modules are able to deliver high power outputs even in low-light conditions, and with each module consisting of 72 individual cells fewer mounting kits are required to achieve the same level of performance compared to standard 60-cell multicrystalline modules. The Trina Solar PC14 modules therefore make large solar farm projects extremely cost-efficient.
Announcing the start of the long-term relationship between Trina Solar and Anesco, Richard Rushin, Trina Solar's UK Sales Manager, believes that the company's approach to its business has put it in the perfect position to capitalise on dramatic growth in the market for large-scale solar PV installations: "Where previously residential installations were the bedrock of the solar PV industry in the UK, adjustments to the Feed-in Tariff system have seen commercial and large-scale installations take precedence. We anticipate 2013 being the year of the solar farm, and the substantial pipeline of projects on which we will be working closely with Anesco is testament to the growth of this market. Our sensible approach to managing our balance sheet has given us the financial strength and stability to be a highly reliable partner for large-scale projects, and we are delighted that Anesco have decided to continue working with us after our success at the Cadland Estate."
