FSG Energy, Conergy & SMA Donate To Hospice
FSG Energy, Conergy and SMA recently collaborated to make a donation to Milton Keynes based Willen Hospice, a charity who provides specialised care for individuals whose illness no longer responds to curative treatment.
The project was first mooted in March 2012, when Conergy decided they wanted to donate a Solar PV system to a local charity. Willen Hospice was the charity chosen as a Conergy Employee had a close friend who passed away at the Hospice in 2011 and reported that the service and treatment they received had been second to none.
After approaching the Hospice, they decided to accept the Conergy offer and have a system installed. Conergy would provide the panels and the mounting system, while SMA would provide an inverter and monitoring device. FSG Energy would then install the system "“ ensuring everything about the project was kept local.
After some initial delays over planning applications "“ due to the building being both listed and in a conservation area "“ consent was finally granted for the installation in late September with the installation being carried out mid-November.
The system is a 4kW Solar PV installation, producing approximately 3700 kW hours of electricity per year "“ most of which will directly benefit the Hospice. The charity will also benefit from the government backed Feed-in-Tariff scheme that gives a modest revenue stream for every unit of power generated over the next 20 years.
