UK Company To Build Solar Panels

News
A UK company has taken advantage of government subsidies to become the first UK manufacturer of solar panels

In a bid to restore the country's economy and bring new
job prospects to the area, a Midlands based manufacturer has been awarded
£5million in government funding to build solar PV panels in the UK. Sunsolar,
who were given the grant as part of the government's Regional Growth Fund, will
see the introduction of 565 new job opportunities and apprenticeships over the
next five years.

The company will be the only solar panel manufacturer in
the UK, where competitors currently import from Europe and China and the
company aims to eventually have a completely self-sufficient factory.

Rob Grant, Business Manager, at Sunsolar is particularly
passionate about renewable energy and is certain the company will have a
significant impact on business growth in the UK.

"Having attended the Micro Generation at Westminster last
week, we know there is a real buzz about the prospects renewable energy
solutions have to offer this country," Rob said. "We all very aware of the
effect the credit crunch has had on the economy, as well as the great need for
renewable energy sources across the world.

"To be able to create a factory environment that will not
only employ local suppliers to work with, but create new jobs and offer viable
and inexpensive energy sources to the UK, is something we're extremely excited
about. And to achieve government funding, is a true testament to the successful
business model we have at Sunsolar and I can't wait to get the ball rolling."

The Regional Growth Fund is a £2.4bn fund of which
businesses across England can apply for grants and loans from 2011-2015, for
support projects and programmes that create economic growth and sustainable
employment.

Sunsolar made it through the first round of grants and
were one of only 50 companies to achieve successful grants from the Fund and
have now signed the contract that allows them to start plans on the £10million
factory development.

"As a company, we are working very hard to try and buck
the negative trend within manufacturing and are keen to change the decline in
the industry, particularly within the Midlands and are actively working towards
bringing business back into the local economy," Rob continued.

"We hope the introduction of much needed jobs, use of
local, UK based suppliers and the running of a self sufficient factory will put
the Midlands on the map for a significant improvement within the industry in
the next 12 months."
