SOLARWATT Commissions Two Large UK Solar Parks

News

SOLARWATT has commissioned its first solar power plants in Great Britain. In February 2011 the company announced its first step into the British market and this past summer the first two projects were realized; two large solar parks with a performance capacity of six megawatts (MW). As the general contractor SOLARWATT was responsible for the planning, delivery, building and commissioning of the two projects.

The two solar parks are located in the Somerset province in Britain's sunny southwest close to Bristol, a region that enjoys sunshine hours and intensity similar to south Germany. The solar park "Summerway Drove Extension" has a capacity of two megawatts. 7,600 modules cover an area of five hectare. The solar park "Puriton Extension" covers an area of twelve hectare and has a power capacity of four megawatts. 16,050 modules were installed and both solar parks are already connected to the public power grid. The solar parks will be able to provide climate friendly energy to a total of 2,600 households.

Dr. Juergen Mueller, general representative of SOLARWATT AG and responsible for the two projects, is very satisfied with their outcome: "The two solar parks are our fist projects in the UK and an important reference for SOLARWATT AG. We completed them under time challenges while meeting the deadline and staying within the budget limits. The success reconfirms our company policy." Prime quality from Germany "" this is optimum layout and planning of photovoltaic plants and systems, extraordinary module quality with performance guarantees as well as excellent project management. Upon customer request SOLARWATT even takes care of the solar power plant's management and maintenance service.
