MCS For Soilar Frontier

Solar Frontier modules receive UK MCS Certification
Solar Frontier announced that its SF130-150 series CIS (copper, indium, selenium) thin-film modules have received MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) certification through BRE Global. Internationally recognized, the MCS certification mark is required for solar modules to be eligible for feed-in-tariffs for PV installations below 50kWp capacity. By carrying the MCS mark, Solar Frontier's solar panels gain an additional economical edge throughout the UK.

"Solar Frontier's rapid global expansion has reached another important milestone with MCS certification," said Wolfgang Lange, Managing Director, Solar Frontier Europe. "Our CIS modules are ideal for the UK residential market as they deliver high performance even in the misty conditions of the British Isles. Solar Frontier is now selecting distributors in the UK as we bring our compelling economical and ecological CIS modules to market."

Solar Frontier's modules are well-suited to the UK's climate, with stable power output even when partially covered by shadows. Having among the highest conversion efficiencies of any mass production thin-film module, at larger substrate sizes, this offers installers and homeowners in the predominantly residential UK PV market more kilowatt-hours per kilowatt-peak "“in modules that have an aesthetic, black finish.

The newly accredited modules, with rated output of up to 150 Watts, are being manufactured at Solar Frontier's gigawatt-scale Kunitomi Plant in Miyazaki, Japan. As part of the MCS' stringent testing criteria, production facilities are also assessed, confirming not just the high quality of Solar Frontier's modules but also the high standards of the company.

Designed for long-term reliability, Solar Frontier modules have also achieved IEC 61646 and 61730 certification under TÜV Rheinland Japan, and UL 1703 through Underwriters Laboratories. With the addition of the MCS mark to its qualifications, Solar Frontier is now ready to enter the UK market, expanding its regional presence from Southern Europe through to the UK.
