First SolarXchange Installation In Norfolk
Ren Energy announces first PV efforts
RenEnergy has installed its first Solar Photovoltaic (PV) installation, in Blofield, under its SolarXchange scheme. The scheme will allow RenEnergy to help 300 homes in Norfolk gain access to free solar-electricity and cut their electricity bills by up to 45%. Since its launch last month, SolarXchange has generated much interest from homes within the county and RenEnergy has a packed installation schedule planned for the summer.
The SolarXchange scheme is possible thanks to the Feed in Tariff scheme introduced by the government in April 2010. If a home is suitable RenEnergy will install solar panels free of charge; allowing the homeowner to benefit from all the free electricity that the panels generate during daylight hours.
The solar panels generate electricity during daylight hours. Any electricity generated will be immediately available for use in the home, any not used will be automatically fed into the grid. In the same way, if the house requires more electricity than the panels can produce, power will automatically be taken from the grid. All equipment, installation, and maintenance are free for the length of the agreed contract.
Mr and Mrs Scott, from Blofield, comment: “Like most households we have had to tighten the purse strings and become more aware of expenditure due to the rising cost of living. When we heard about SolarXchange, we felt it was a ‘win-win' situation for us not only as we are reducing the impact on the environment, we are saving money and it is also peace of mind against future energy price rises.”
Stephen Thorley, CEO for RenEnergy, said: “SolarXchange is there to help a number of homes to decrease their energy bills and to think more logically when it comes to using energy within the home.
“We are excited that the first installation has now been completed and Mr and Mrs Scott have been able to take control of their energy bills by converting to the biggest energy provider, the sun!”
