UK Office Opened
jms Solar Handel establishes its branch office in Bristol
jms Solar Handel, the Bavarian PV specialist, continues to expand its European network of branch offices, most recently at the beginning of the new year with the opening of its first branch in Portishead, Bristol. Following the resounding success of its distribution model in Italy and Austria, the renowned wholesale dealer is now aiming to position itself as the leading provider of solar technology on the British Isles.
The newly founded subsidiary jms UK Solar Trade Ltd. is domiciled in Portishead, Bristol. There the company is initially planning to concentrate on the south-east part of the country and to gradually expand its distribution network. The location not only scores with its proximity to the port and good transport connections to the capital of London: the favourable geographic and climatic conditions also provide southern England with the highest solar radiation values, making solar systems a profitable investment. At the same time, this corner of the country is traditionally considered to be wealthy - two decisive criteria for a sustainable growth of the PV sector on location.
While Germany is considered a pioneer in terms of solar energy around the world, the British government only laid the foundation for the development of the domestic photovoltaic sector in 2010 with an attractive feed-in tariff. Therefore, the young solar market is still in its infancy compared to Germany.
“On the one hand, most domestic commercial enterprises do not dispose of the required logistic structures and fully developed purchasing channels. At the same time, there is a lack of experience in dealing with short-term changes that are typical in the solar sector“, Josef Mittermeier, Director and founder of jms Solar Handel, explains the U.K.'s current situation. “On the other hand, the construction of solar systems is virgin territory for many installation and roofing companies, which significantly complicates the realisation of PV projects. We are aiming to bridge these gaps with experience and technical skills and to offer our new partners efficient solutions.“
