Q-Cells SE Expands Into UK Solar Market
Commenting on Q-Cells entering the UK market, Hans-Gerd Füchtenkort, Executive Board Member, Marketing & Sales said: "We see the UK as a strategically important market and another step in expanding our global business. With a high degree of home ownership and promising feed-in-tariff legislation we are confident that the UK market offers great potential. The ‘Q' in Q-Cells stands for quality - which is guaranteed for Q-Cells products, from the solar cells to solar modules to systems”. Q-Cells also expect to shortly announce MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) approval for its most popular models - Q.SMART and Q.PRO. This endorsement - a pre-requisite for selling solar panels in the UK market - will enable customers to utilise Q-Cell's technology for reliable, lower cost, electricity generation.
Since the start of production in 2001, Q-Cells have delivered solar cells with a total capacity of over 1,890MWp (1.9GWp). This means that the solar cells - the core of the solar installation - are used in a particularly diverse spectrum of applications and subjected to a long test period. For the first time in 2010, Q-Cells produced more than 1 GWp (1,014 MWp) in solar cells and solar modules. Including sales in 2009, the total volume of all solar cells processed into modules has reached 2GWp.
