Workshop To Develop The UK's Research Agenda For Embedded Systems
The
UK, through the Technology Strategy Board is investing 3 million
Euros, which will be matched with European research funding and
industry research in kind in this first round.
The ARTEMIS (Advanced Research and
Technology for EMbedded Intelligence and Systems) joint technology
initiative is a €2.7 billion research programme on embedded
computing systems. It will be run by a public/private partnership in
the form of a 'joint undertaking' established through a regulation of
the EU Council. For the first time ever, European Community R&D
funds are being pooled with national funds, and industry investment.
The 2008 ARTEMIS project call was
announced on 8th May 2008 and fourteen "Euro" projects have
already been proposed. This is a chance to influence the UK's
research agenda in the area of embedded systems to meet the deadline
for this call (3rd Sept 2008) and future calls.
It's also a great opportunity to
understand the areas of interest in Europe, get a more complete
understanding of how the Artemis programme is developing, and to
potentially connect with collaborative partners from within the UK.
