Greatbatch And ISSYS Announce Strategic Partnership

News
Companies collaborate to develop miniature wireless sensing solutions for implantable medical markets.
Greatbatch and Integrated Sensing
Systems announced that they have entered into an agreement to
collaboratively develop miniature wireless implantable sensing
solutions to be commercialised in partnership with OEM medical device
manufacturers servicing the cardiac rhythm management (CRM),
neurosurgical, neuromodulation, ophthalmology and orthopedic markets.

The companies plan to design, develop
and manufacture solutions, which include sensors and delivery
products, to support targeted markets enabling the advancement of
patient care. These products will enhance the treatment of clinical
indications such as congestive heart failure, traumatic brain injury
and glaucoma.

“Our technology partnership allows us
to broaden our product offering and market presence by bringing
innovation to the forefront and enabling our OEM partners to address
unmet patient needs,” said Mauricio Arellano, senior vice president
of Greatbatch's CRM & Neuromodulation business. “Additionally,
these sensor technologies complement our recent expansion into
vascular delivery tools.”

Dr. Nader Najafi, ISSYS CEO, stated
that “The synergy of ISSYS' wireless implantable MEMS sensing
technology and Greatbatch's expertise within the implantable
medical markets will speed the introduction of these novel miniature
wireless implantable products within broader emerging medical
markets.”
