Anabond And Momentive Join For SPUR Sealants

Momentive (formerly GE Bayer Silicones) and Chennai based Anabond will jointly invest to develop, manufacture and market SPUR sealants for the Indian subcontinent. The agreement will allow Anabond to develop and manufacture SPUR+ sealants for the sealant market under license from Momentive.
Momentive Performance Materials and Anabond announced their joint development agreement to develop and manufacture ‘SPUR Sealants' in India. Utilising Momentive's research, development support and expertise of the SPUR+ pre-polymer Anabond will manufacture this product in their Chennai / Puducherry plant for serving the local markets.

 

This agreement allows Momentive and Anabond to jointly develop SPUR+ sealants and market them in the defined areas. Momentive will market this product in the construction segment and Anabond will market it in the automotive and electrical & electronics segment under license from Momentive. Other Areas not specified under this agreement are open to both the companies for marketing their products based on mutual understanding.

 

SPUR Sealant is a Hybrid that exhibits excellent properties in terms of Non stain, non bleed, paintable, high strength, primerless adhesion, Fast cure and Durable. Speaking on this occasion Mr. VP Nalian, Managing Director, Momentive Performance Materials said “This development is a quantum leap in silicone sealants area, in this part of the world and is in line with Momentive India's Vision of combining global technology with local application development, manufacturing and service to bring world class products and services in silicones to the Indian market. We believe Anabond is the right partner for this joint development agreement to develop Spur Sealants in India.”

 

“Their expertise in the adhesive and sealants area namely in the automotive industry, combined with their manufacturing capabilities will help us develop high end ‘SPUR Sealant' applications and bring this world class product to the Indian customers in a cost effective manner”. The partnership of Momentive and Anabond will see the launch of the ‘SPUR Sealants' by the fourth quarter. The project will be led by Mr. K. Adhi Narayanan, Director on behalf of Anabond, and by Dr. Venkatesh Shingankuli, Director Technology and Application Development of Momentive.

 

During this period Momentive will provide all necessary technical inputs and support for any experiments / trials by extending their Application Development Facility in India or overseas. They will also assist Anabond in developing formulation and process for the compounding of SPUR+ Sealants. Momentive will also provide production technology, supply of raw materials, packing materials and training to Anabond's production team.
