7 Million Configurations For Compact High Performance Valve Island
The latest compact, lightweight, high-flow pneumatic valve island on the market promises exceptional versatility coupled with user-friendly features, offering impressive new benefits for customers in the electronics sector and making it the envy of the industry.
Unveiled by global pneumatics expert Norgren earlier this year, the VM10 valve island has a sleek, modern and compact design which makes it easy to fit on any machine and its light grey colour makes it suitable for applications in the electronics industry.
VM10 is backed by a reliability test specification conforming to SEMI E10. In addition, Norgren offer cleaning, assembly and packaging processes in line with the international SEMATECH guide for contamination control in design, assembly, and delivery of semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
With cleanroom space at a premium, VM10 offers a space saving of up to 30 per cent in Fieldbus applications compared to other equivalent products because the electronics fit into the same space envelope as a standard Multipole valve island. A 2 x 3/2 function is also available for piloting process valves used in wafer fabrication.
With 260 different valve options available, multiple wiring options including 2-20 individually wired stations, 4-16 Multipole stations, 4-16 Fieldbus stations, 7 Fieldbus protocols, multi-pressure options and six port sizes from 3mm to 6mm and 1/8" to ¼", customers can choose from no less than seven million possible configurations to specify a unit which meets their needs exactly.
It boasts an excellent flow rate of 430l/m - the highest available for any valve with a 10mm width. This exceptional flow rate means that VM10 can be used in place of heavier, larger and more expensive 16mm and ISO valves. Made from a high performance engineering polymer, the VM10 combines strength and stability with low weight. It provides excellent resistance to chemicals, even with prolonged contact, and is particularly well suited to
industries such as food packaging due to its high resistance to chemical washdowns.
It is also easy to use. Easy to configure. Customers can configure their valves using Norgren's unique free software package available on the web at www.norgren.com and free of charge from Norgren on CD. The valve island configurator is exceptionally easy to use
by both experienced and first-time users and provides customers with a meaningful part number.
Once customers have configured their valve island a line diagram is instantly available online showing the size envelope needed. Using Norgren's free online CAD service customers can also access and download 2D and 3D models of their own valve island. It is easy to change the configuration as the valve types are interchangeable and adding or removing valves is quickly and easily done.
Easy to fit and maintain
The integrated push-in fittings on the VM10 reduce component count and reduce the cost of installation by minimising assembly time. In addition, Norgren's Pneumapole? quick-disconnect sub-base makes it very easy to replace individual valves without disturbing any pneumatic connections. Equally, each valve section can be removed and replaced without the need to disassemble the entire island. All wiring connections are made to one side of the unit for neatness and protection.
Easy to use
Designed and engineered to make life as easy as possible for customers, the VM10 is easy to use with LEDs and clear labelling using pneumatic symbols and a code for each valve slice.
VM10 is available with integral checked exhaust non-return valves and with a choice of four manual override options - together with the option of changing from user-controllable turn-and lock to push-only after commissioning.
The VM10 has been developed by Norgren's Regional Technical Centres in close conjunction with customers to ensure it delivers the maximum functionality, quality and ease of use possible. The VM10 can be ordered from Norgren by calling 01543 265000 or on-line at
