AMD And Fujitsu Are Discussing Integration Of Their Flash Memory Operations,
AMD and Fujitsu are discussing integration of their Flash memory operations,
according to Financial Times. This would create a Flash operation larger
than Intel's, the current world leader in the technology.
AMD would take
control with a 60% stake in the joint venture which could have sales of
£3bn. The company would start operation in January 2003. The companies
already have a joint Flash producing facility - Fujitsu AMS Semiconductor
(FASL). AMD's Fab 25 in Texas also produces Flash and would be involved in
the deal. Fujitsu is reported as being in favour of an eventual initial
public offering (IPO), but AMD opposes this.
