PDF Solutions Is Working With Israeli Foundry Tower Semiconductor To Achieve
PDF Solutions is working with Israeli foundry Tower Semiconductor to achieve
best-in-class yield and performance on a 0.18micron CMOS process. The work
is to be carried out at Tower's new 200mm Fab 2 facility. PDF's technology
aims at enabling quick analysis of the complex interactions between
manufacturing processes and designs.
"Use of PDF's methodology, Characterization Vehicle test chips, process
analysis software and yield simulation tools is expected to provide a high
level of process flexibility, intelligent customisation, accelerated yield
ramp, and high-target yields for our Fab 2 customers," says Ron Niv, manager
of Fab 2.
Tower's new Fab 2 facility is currently prototyping 0.18micron products,
with volume production expected by the end of the year. At full capacity,
the facility should be able to produce up to 33,000 200mm wafers per month.
Cypress Semiconductor has expanded its non-exclusive commercial license
agreement to use WaferYield's WAMA yield improvement technology. WAMA is
based on WaferYield's patented, proprietary wafer-mapping technology with
each module targetting a different aspect of the wafer fabrication process.
WAMA modules are designed to increase gross dice, good dice, fab throughput
and return on investment.
Texas Instruments' 300mm start-up fab has ordered Ultratech Stepper's newest
bump stepper - the Saturn Spectrum 300e2.
