Hewlett-Packard report a low-temperature depostion and crystallisation
process for a number of thin-film oxide films (Science, July 5). The
technique uses precipitation and hydrothermal dehydration followed by
"successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction" (SILAR). The deposition
process was tested on ZrO2, ZnSiO4 and MnO2. Crystalline oxides were created
at temperatures as low as 400K (127C).
