Veeco and FEI report that they will not be able to complete their previously announced merger by December 31,2002.
The companiesmerger agreement gives either party the right to
terminate if the deal is not consummated by this time.The parties
are currently discussing modifications to the agreement,including
a possible extension to the December 31,2002,deadline.The
merger also remains subject to the parties obtaining antitrust and
other regulatory approvals.
