SEMI director for industry research and statistics Dan Tracy comments: "The
current outlook remains uncertain with few indications of a strong rebound
in the immediate future. However, we expect capital expenditures to increase
later this year as the industry is slated to bring on about 15 new fabs
capable of sub 0.2micron technology in 2003 and 2004."
