BayWa R.e Continues Investment In UK Operation Services

News

As a part of a major programme of ongoing investment in the UK renewable energy operation services market, BayWa r.e. has opened new offices in Milton Keynes.

This follows the successful acquisition of Green Hedge Operational Services in December 2016, and complements ambitious ongoing investment in recruitment, internal systems and software. BayWa r.e. currently services over 700 MW of large-scale solar and wind farms in the UK, and is expecting significant business growth. BayWa r.e. also continues to consider further acquisitions to grow its capabilities and market reach further.

Matthias Taft, Board Member of BayWa AG, responsible for the energy business, explains: "Over past years there has been significant renewable energy development in the UK, which has grown the market of operating assets to a considerable size. A significant proportion of plants are now seeing their initial post-build service contracts come to an end, and portfolios are being retendered. With BayWa r.e.'s industry-leading resources and the local team's strong capabilities and track record, we believe our Service Division to be uniquely placed to meet the evolving needs of this growing market."

BayWa r.e. Operation Services Limited's new Milton Keynes office acts as the main hub for the company's solar PV services team, and is the seat of its management team led by Managing Director Tess Sundelin and Operations Director Oliver Niedhöfer. The company's wind operations management and commercial asset management functions will continue to be based in BayWa r.e.'s Edinburgh office.
